FREE PATTERN – Primrose

 

This beautiful little doll has been created from my own pattern, she measures approx. 35cm (14 inches) when standing and 25cm (10inches) when sitting.

Primrose

YARN – You can use any yarn you wish, just make sure you have the correct hook size for the yarn you use. I have used DK yarn.

YOU WILL NEED:

Yarn

Needle for sewing in ends

Toy Stuffing

3.5 hook for the body

4.5 hook for the clothes

2.5 hook for the bag and flowers

 

BODY:

Stuff the body as you go

Work in the round

Make a magic loop or 2sc

  1. 6sc into magic loop or the 2nd chain on the hook, join to the first sc with a slip stitch (6)
  2. 2sc into each stitch around (12)
  3. Sc x 1, inc (18)
  4. Sc x 2, inc (24)
  5. Sc x 3, inc (30)
  6. Sc x 4, inc (36)
  7. Sc x 5, inc (42)
  8. Sc x 6, inc (48)
  9. Sc x 7, inc (54)
  10. Sc x 8, inc (60)

Rows 11 to 14 sc in each stitch around (60)

  1. Sc x 8, dec (54)

Rows 16 to 19 sc in each stitch around (54)

  1. Sc x 7, dec (48)

Rows 21 to 24 sc in each stitch around (48)

  1. Sc x 6, dec (42)

Rows 26 to 29 sc in each stitch around (42)

Place eyes between rows 17 and 18 with 6 sc in-between

BLO: crochet in the back loops only

  1. Chain 7
  2. 2 x sc in the 2nd chain on the hook, sc x 4, inc in last chain. Move round to work on the opposite side of the chain. 2 x sc in the 1st free loop, sc x 4, 2 x sc in last loop (16)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing to the body

 

ARMS:

Work in the round

Make a magic loop or 2sc

  1. 6sc into magic loop or the 2nd chain on the hook, join to the first sc with a slip stitch (6)
  2. 2sc into each stitch around (12)
  3. Sc x 2, inc (16)

Rows 4 – 10 sc in each stitch around (16)

  1. Sc x 6, dec (14)

Rows 12 to 35 sc in each stitch around (14)

 

HAIR:

Cut 15cm pices of yarn, fold in half, thread the two loose ends through a needle. Thread through a stitch on the top of the head to form a loop. Thread the loose ends through the loop and pull tight. Carry on around the head until you have enough hair.

DRESS:

4.5mm Hook

Chain 21

  1. Sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and each stitch around, ch 1 and turn (20)
  2. 2 x sc in each stich across, ch 1 and turn (40)
  3. Sc x 1, inc, ch 1 and turn (60)
  4. Sc in each stitch across, ch 1 and turn (60)
  5. Sc x 7, skip 16 stitches, sc x 14, skip 16 stitches, sc x 7, chain 1 and turn (28)
  6. Sc in each stitch across, ch2 and turn (28)
  7. Hdc in each stitch across, ch 2 and turn (28)
  8. Dc in each stitch across, ch 2 and turn (28)
  9. Dc, inc in each stitch across, ch 2 and turn (42)
  10. (inc, dc) repeat across, ch 2 and turn (63)
  11. (inc, dc x 2) repeat across, ch 2 and turn (84)

Rows 12 to 20 dc in each stitch across, ch 2 and turn (84)

Change colour for hem

Fasten off and weave in ends

For the lace edging – work from the inside of the dress, using the loose stitch from row 23, shell stitch across for 3 rows

 

BLOOMERS:

4.5mm Hook

Chain 50

  1. Slip stitch into the 1st chain to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain: ch 1, sc in same chain as joining and in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch, ch 2 and turn (50)

Rows 2 to 9 Hdc in each stitch around, joining with a slip stitch and ch 2 at the end of each round (50)

  1. Chain 3, skip the next 24 stitches, join to the next stitch with a slip stitch (50)
  2. Chain 3, hdc in next 24 stitches, join to the next stitch with a slip stitch (first leg) (25)

Rows 12 to 14 hdc in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch and ch 2 at the end of each round (25)

  1. Hdc in each stitch around, join with slip stitch, ch 3
  2. (Skip a stich, hdc, ch 1), ch 1 around, join with a slip stich, ch 1
  3. (Sc in the ch1 space, sc) around, join with a slip stich, ch 3
  4. BLO – (dc, inc) around, join with a slip stitch

Second Leg

Working with the left leg opening facing you, join with a slip stitch in the 2nd free loop: ch1, hdc in the next free loop, hdc x around, join with a slip stitch, ch 2

Copy rows 11 to 18

When finished thread ribbon through the gaps at the bottom and tie into bows

 

SHOES:

4.5mm Hook

Chain 7

  1. 2 x sc in the 2nd chain on the hook, sc x 4, inc in last chain. Move round to work on the opposite side of the chain. 2 x sc in the 1st free loop, sc x 4, 2 x sc in last loop (16)
  2. Inc, sc x 4, inc x 6, sc x 4, inc (24)
  3. Inc, sc x 8, (inc,sc) x 3, inc, sc x 8 (29)
  4. Sc x 2, inc, sc x 6, (inc, sc x 2) x 3, inc, sc x 6, inc, sc x 3 (35)
  5. BLO – Sc x in each stitch around (35)
  6. Sc in each stitch around (35)
  7. Sc x 11, (dec, sc ) x 4, dec, sc x 8 (30)
  8. Sc x 8, (dec, sc) x 4, dec, sc x 8 (25)
  9. Sc x 9, ch 11
  10. Sc in 3rd chain from hook, sc in each remaining chain, slip stitch in the next 9 stitches, sc x 5

For 2nd Shoe – repeat rows 1 to 8, sc x 5, slip stitch x 13, chain 11, sc in 3rd chain from hook, sc in each remaining chain, sc x 5

 

FLOWERS:

2.5mm Hook

Chain 4

Working in the 4th chain from the hook, dc x 2, ch3, slip stitch, (ch3, dc x 2, ch3, slip stitch) x 4, pull the loose piece of yarn tight to form the flower and fasten off, leaving a long piece of yarn for sewing to the shoes

 

BAG:

2.5mm Hook

Make 2 granny squares. Place the 2 squares right side to right side and connect 3 sides with sc through both squares. Continue with the same thread to make a handle – make a chain about 10” long, connect it to the opposite side of the bag opening, turn and sc along the chain. Finish off and weave in the ends.

Make a magic loop or 2sc

  1. 6sc into magic loop or the 2nd chain on the hook, join to the first sc with a slip stitch (6)
  2. Ch3 ( counts as 1 dc), dc x 2, ch2, (dc x 3, ch2) x 3, join with a slip stitch into the top of the ch3
  3. Ch3 ( counts as 1 dc), (dc x 2, ch2, dc x 3, into first ch space), (ch1, dc x 3, ch2, dc x 3 in next ch space) x 3, join with a slip stitch into the top of the ch3
  4. Ch3 ( counts as 1 dc), dc x 2, ch1, *(dc x 3, ch2, dc x 3) into next ch space (first corner), ch1, dc x 3 into next ch space, ch1 * repeat from *to * 3 times, (dc x 3, ch2, dc x3) into last ch space, join with a slip stitch into the top of the ch3
  5. Ch3 ( counts as 1 dc), dc x 2 into 1st ch space, ch1, *(dc x 3, ch2, dc x 3) into next ch space, (ch1, dc x 3 into next ch space)* repeat from *to* three times, (dc x 3, ch2, dc x 3) into next ch2 space, ch , dc x 3 into last ch space, join with a slip stitch into the top of the ch3
